What are the best hightops for urban wear?
I’m a club promoter concerned with swag and ankle support. I’m on my feet all day in upscale venues so I need the best urban high tops. I need my shoes to be stylish, last for a while, and provide value for the cost.

I put the call out to RealTrapFits Readers and did my own research.
I went to Nordstrom’s, read the reviews online, went to Nieman’s, etc.
There are thousands of shoe reviews online, so I’m not going to write about any specific factors. My experience suggests that shoe reviews get way too complicated, especially for people like me. If you disagree, post your comment explaining why. I’m far from an expert.
After trying out several types of hightops, I narrowed the choices down to these three:
- Christian Louboutin Men’s Rantus Sneakers (Shopstyle)
- Giuseppe Zanotti Crocodile High-Tops (Shopstyle)
- Nike Air Force One High-Tops (Shopstyle)
I’ve owned Louboutin High-tops for four years. I love these shoes. You get great ankle support without any excess stiffness. You can lace em high or low.
Giuseppes are the favorites of clout chasers everywhere. They look amazing and are durable in all weather conditions. (Price was unimportant to me and doesn’t factor into this review).
My day 1 homie is a high-top lover who prefers his Nike Air Max to any others he’s owned. I’ve also had a few pairs of my own.

Price didn’t mean much to me. I’ve had my Louboutins for around 4 years. While other shoes wear out within two months, Louboutins last for the long run. When in use, they offer consistent comfort.
That said, my research revealed the benefit of high-tops decreases once the price hits $1000. Unless you feel like burning money with no increase in swag appeal, $1000 is overkill.

How Do The Sizes Run?
Louboutins run a bit bigger than Giuseppes. However, it’s important to factor in the impact of the zippers.
Giuseppes are more adjustable, while Louboutins are less.
Nike Air Max is a good in-between shoe. Louboutins take longer to break in.
Demand maximum support? The added flair and stability make high tops an attractive option.
Want High-Tops With Spikes On Them?
While Giuseppes and Louboutins are similar in many aspects, some Louboutins come with spikes on them.
Giuseppes are known for their straps and zippers.
Both brands also come in a variety of animal prints.
Which hightops are best for urban wear?
It really comes down to your own preference.
Giuseppes are more adjustable. The zippers can be customized to your taste. They attract tons of compliments and provide lots of ankle support.
Forget about any tread issues or bad stiching. Rainy days present no problem.
They add mad flavor to all environments.
Having owned all 3 shoes, Giuseppes are the clear winner in my book.
When you consider superior function for close to $300 less, I’d say that’s a steal wouldn’t you?
